Search and Rescue Guide for Stray Animals and Pets
Introduction Stray animals and pets can become lost or endangered for various reasons. In the event of natural disasters, accidents, abandonment or simple escape, it is vital to know the right steps to find and rescue these animals. In this article, we share effective methods for searching and rescuing lost animals.
1. How to Search for a Lost Pet?
a) Identifying the Last Seen Place

Take note of the area where the animal disappeared.

Notify residents, shopkeepers and other animal lovers.

Check the security camera footage.
b) Social Media and Advertisements

Post a missing person report on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

Increase outreach by using hashtags such as #LostAnimal, #StreetAnimalRescue.

Contact local animal protection organizations.
c) Physical Search Methods

If it recognizes the animal's smell, call it by its food or toys.

Searching in the quiet of the night can be more effective (especially for frightened animals).

Check hiding places such as parks, garbage containers, construction sites.
2. Rescuing Injured or Endangered Animals
a) First Aid and Safety

Move calmly and slowly when approaching an injured animal.

Protect yourself by wearing gloves (in case of bites/scratches).

In emergencies, contact your veterinarian or Alo 153 (Municipal Animal Support Hotline).
b) Animal Rescue in Natural Disasters

c) Animals Under Vehicles

3. What to do when a lost animal is found

4. Preventive Measures

Get your pets microchipped or use a collar.

Make sure doors and windows are closed.

Prevent the uncontrolled proliferation of stray animals by sterilization.
